SAN JUAN — TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico, LLC, an industry leader in maritime services and a dedicated shipping provider in Puerto Rico, today released official photographs from its participation in the Boys & Girls Clubs Puerto Rico’s (BGCPR) Youth of the Year (YoY) award ceremony.

This year marks TOTE’s eighth year of supporting young people through the YoY award, which has resulted in 30,000Puerto Ricans receiving the educational funds or skill development to pursue secondary education and work.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico offers crucial support to thousands of youths and their families, many of whom were severely impacted by the pandemic,” said Eduardo Pagan, Vice President and General Manager of Caribbean Services, TOTE Maritime Agency Puerto Rico. “This year more than ever, I am proud of our team’s continuous commitment to our community and the promising young minds who are the very future of our island and industry.”

On March 3, BGCPR announced Kamila Lugo as Puerto Rico’s 2022 YoY award recipient. Competing against ten teens, Kamila was evaluated by a jury of professional leaders and public figures. Kamila was chosen for her leadership in the community, at school, at the Club, and in her family.

Kevin Kendrick, President, TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico and Eduardo Pagan, Vice President and General Manager, TOTE Maritime Agency Puerto Rico, joined the award ceremony at the Boys & Girls Club of Carolina to provide a few remarks, recognize the nominees and celebrate the winner.

“There are so many Club kids in need of financial, educational and future-readiness support,” Olga Ramos, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico. “We are proud to partner with TOTE — a company that provides much-needed resources to Club kids and to the entirety of the Island.”

In July, Kamila will join YoY winners from other states to compete in the Northeast Regional YoY contest. That winner will go on to compete for the national Youth of the Year award.

A four-part series showcasing this year’s young people and the Youth of the Year program aired on Wapa Deportes on the weekends of May 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd.
